Study Visit of the TourEdu4All African delegation to Athens, Greece at the premises of IEK AKMI on curriculum design & fundraising in tourism operations

Athens, Greece – May 27-31, 2024 – The TourEdu4All project recently completed a successful study visit and transnational project meeting (TPM) in Athens, Greece. Hosted by AKMI, the visit brought together key stakeholders to advance the project’s mission of fostering inclusivity in tourism education and vocational training.

The visit featured a range of activities designed to enhance collaboration among partners. The TPM sessions covered essential project management aspects, financial procedures, and quality assurance measures. Additionally, workshops focused on developing a Raw Model for inclusive tourism, criteria selection for participant engagement, and strategies for dissemination and promotional activities.

Participants had the opportunity to explore Athens’ rich cultural heritage, with visits to key landmarks and institutions such as the IEK AKMI vocational training center. Discussions with industry professionals and professors provided valuable insights into current trends and challenges in tourism and hospitality.

A significant aspect of the visit was the interactive workshops on curriculum design and the operational phases of fundraising initiatives. Site visits to Melia Athens Hotel and Colors Hotel Athens offered participants hands-on exposure to best practices in hotel management, customer service, and sustainability initiatives within the hospitality sector.

The study visit concluded with a reflection workshop, ensuring that the acquired knowledge and best practices are integrated into future project activities. TourEdu4All continues to strengthen collaboration among European and African partners, promoting accessibility and inclusion in vocational education and training (VET) for the tourism sector.
